Our Story

Iveth Zambrano

Hilary Iveth Zambrano was born on February 1st in Milagro, Ecuador. She grew up in a small town called Huaquillas and, at the age of 18, moved to Guayaquil to begin her law studies. She graduated as a lawyer and later decided to visit her sister in Boise, Idaho.

Not knowing anyone in the United States, her sister told her to download an app called Mutual to make new friends. After meeting Carter on the app, although nervous about her English, she wanted the opportunity to meet him in person. The two did not need language to communicate, from the moment they first met in person, they knew they were home. Google translate would continue to be a third wheel on their dates, but soon after they would be speaking fluently. We know how this progressed; Carter would later become her fiancé, and now, her future husband. 💘

Carter Smith

Carter Smith was born on July 7th in Salt Lake City. He moved with his family to Iowa during his teenage years. After serving a full-time, two-year mission in the Tucson, Arizona Mission, he decided to move to Rexburg, Idaho, with two major goals: First, to study Software Engineering at BYU-I, and second, to find his future wife.

Spoiler alert: His future wife did not live in Rexburg, but his efforts were not in vain. After receiving wise advice from his dad, he made the best investment of his life: $25 on a Premium subscription to Mutual (a LDS dating app)

After talking for 2 weeks they knew they needed to meet in person, the only challenges stopping them— they lived 4:30hrs apart from each other and they didn’t speak each other’s language. After their first date, they knew they had found their home.

The rest… is history. 💘

One of the most rewarding blessings of life is to be happily married to your best friend for eternity.
